Testimonials

Clover edited several of my young adult books and I couldn’t have been more pleased! Not only did she help me nail the voice of a teenager but she was proficient with grammatical errors and very pleasant to communicate with. I look forward to working with her on my future projects and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a skilled editor!

Working with Clover is such a pleasure! She digs deep into the story and identifies the precise places where amplifying character emotion and enhancing sensory elements can take a scene from good to wonderful. She provides concrete suggestions for ratcheting up action while always respecting an author's voice. She's kindly honest, consistently professional,  and genuinely committed to helping make each work the best it can be.  Clover sees the big picture issues. She also focuses in on the details that make a difference. I can't wait to work with her again!

I have always been complimented on my ability to write clearly and concisely, so when I finished my first book, I wasn't too concerned about editing. After all, I had been writing technical papers, memos, reports and letters all of my life.  Besides, I gave it to two other professional women (one of them a multi-published author) to read and edit. Together they found all sorts of things, none of which I could argue with. So I edited the book and re-read it again and again. Finally I decided it was done and I uploaded it to Amazon.

Reviews started to come in and most of the early ones were pretty good. But then the book received its first one-star rating with the comment, "Who edited this book? The lousy job spoiled what might have been a good read."

I shrugged that comment off. After all, you can't please everyone all of the time. But then the next two reviews said the same thing.  So I knew there was a problem.

A friend had used Clover Autrey for editing, so I checked out her website and then emailed her.  We emailed back and forth,  to be sure we both knew what I wanted and what she could provide and then I sent her my manuscript.  I could  not believe the difference she made in the quality of my book. She took it to a whole new level of professionalism.

I found her responsive to my emails and questions, quick to return the edited manuscript and completely professional.  Who could ask for more?  Best of all, I never got another poor review because of the editing in that book.

I was so impressed that I had her edit my next book and we've discussed the timelines for the third one.  I couldn't imagine working with anyone else.

If you're looking for fast turnaround, professional editing and honest feedback, I can't recommend Clover enough.

Clover Autrey’s editing has taken my work from polished to perfection. As my passion for prose grew and became more concise, she elevated me to become even more rooted in the craft of well-placed words. Offering a true balance between showing and telling while pushing for perfect sentences. She has a knack for getting the best from her authors by honing their talents. The craft of editing is a true art form and she’s mastered it like no other. I can’t imagine letting any manuscript go untouched without her editing talents.
